This is very common problem in any industrial system. The people working in any industry are to face the motor not starting issue very frequently. There are many reasons behind the defect of motor not starting. Today we will discuss some common point that could be the cause of synchronous motor fail to startup.
1. Voltage may be too low.
Every motor have a rated voltage range within which you have to provide the supply voltage. If the power supply voltage is out of that range then the motor fail to run.
2. Some faulty connection in auxiliary apparatus.
To run a motor it requires a control circuit with some auxiliary apparatus. The internal control circuit connection must be in proper way.
3. Too much starting load.
The load applied during the starting period is not allowed for all types of motor. So we have to think about the starting load.
4. Open-circuit in one phase or short circuit.
In the control circuit or circuit breaker there can have a chance of being one phase open or short circuited.
5. Field excitation may be excessive.
The excitation voltage on the field have to be maintained within the rated limit declared by the motor maker.
