What is the phase difference between current and voltage in capacitive AC circuit?

  M. Hasan

It is noted that the voltage and the current are out of phase when a capacitor is used in an ac circuit. By comparing the voltage and current expressions for a capacitor in an ac circuit, it is possible to determine the phase difference between the voltage and current.

What is the phase difference between current and voltage in capacitive AC circuit?
Fig: Capacitive Circuit

  •  If the circuit is only capacitive then the phase angle between current and voltage will be 90 degree.
  • Current leads the voltage by 90 degree.
  • We also can say voltage lags the current by 90 degree.
